Switch the background map using the basemap selector at the bottom of the left panel:
| Basemap | Use case |
|---|---|
| Grayscale | Minimal distraction; best for overlaying colourful raster data |
| ESRI World | High-resolution satellite imagery for visual context |
| OSM | Street map with labels; useful for locating places |
Map controls
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Scroll wheel | Zoom in/out at cursor position |
| Click + drag | Pan the map |
| + / − buttons | Incremental zoom |
| ⓘ button | Open info panel (shows "No data is currently showing" when no layer is active) |
Layer loading
When you activate a layer, a progress bar at the top of the screen shows tile loading status. Wait for it to reach 100% before querying layer values.
Opacity
The Opacity slider in the left panel controls the transparency of all active raster layers. Slide left to make overlays more transparent (revealing the basemap) or right for full opacity.
